- The infant has a low chance to have any the diseases included in newborn screening.
- A screen negative report with results is faxed to the hospital or health care provider that submitted the infant’s sample.
- Screen negative pulse oximetry results should be recorded on the newborn screening card and sent to NSO.
Negative newborn screening results do not rule out a disease. If an infant is at risk for a particular disease based on clinical presentation/symptoms or family history, diagnostic testing should be performed as appropriate.
